Day 1 — Your French escape begins here
Arriving in the countryside of Southwest France
As you leave the main roads behind, the scenery begins to soften. Country lanes wind through vineyards, woodland and traditional villages before leading you to your hotel. Set within a 16th-century château, the estate will be your peaceful and elegant retreat throughout the stay.
Settle into your room and explore the estate
Make yourself comfortable and allow the pace of your journey to slow down. Vineyards, nature and historic architecture provide the setting for your first day. Take a walk through the estate, relax on the terrace or simply enjoy the feeling of having arrived.
Dinner at the bistro
For your first evening, settle into the welcoming atmosphere of the estate’s bistro. The menu draws inspiration from the produce and flavours of Southwest France, offering an initial taste of the region’s generous way of life.
Day 2 — Bergerac, diversity & creativity
Breakfast in the château
Begin the day in the elegant dining room of the estate’s Michelin-starred restaurant. Pastries made on site, artisan preserves, honey harvested on the estate, local produce and homemade specialities create a generous breakfast before you set out for the vineyards.
Meet Vincent and Susan
Vincent and Susan, your English guides, will meet you for a day devoted to the wines and relaxed way of life of Southwest France. Passionate about the region, they share its wines, landscapes and stories with warmth and simplicity. The visits, transport and lunch are all arranged. All you need to do is discover, taste and enjoy.
Your first steps among the vines
The day begins in the heart of a wine estate. As you walk through the vineyard, discover how the soil, climate and work of the winemaker shape the character of each wine. The explanations are clear and engaging: no technical lecture, just the pleasure of understanding what you will later taste in your glass.
Three appellations, three expressions of Bergerac
Rosette, Pécharmant and Monbazillac reveal very different sides of the Bergerac wine region. Discover delicate whites, deeper reds and the celebrated sweet wines of Monbazillac. Around twelve wines will be offered for tasting throughout the day.
Inside the cellars
Discover the main stages of winemaking, the decisions made by each producer and the influence of time, vessels and working methods on the finished wine. Vincent and Susan translate, explain and make every conversation with the producers feel natural and effortless.
Lunch overlooking the vines
A picnic prepared with local produce is served in a setting chosen to make the most of the countryside. Charcuterie, cheeses and regional specialities provide a natural continuation of the morning’s discoveries. A relaxed and generous moment that often becomes one of the highlights of the day.
New estates, new stories
During the afternoon, visit further properties and meet more of the people behind the wines. Every estate has its own history, style and way of working. Wine is shaped as much by human choices, traditions and convictions as it is by the land.
Back to the tranquillity of the estate
In the late afternoon, return to the peace of the estate. Relax in your room, enjoy a drink on the terrace or unwind beside the swimming pool, which is freely accessible throughout your stay. Spa access, treatments and golf activities are also available at an additional charge.
Dinner at the bistro
At the end of the day, return to the welcoming atmosphere of the bistro and take your time over dinner.
Day 3 — Saint-Émilion, great wines & history
A gentle start to the day
After a peaceful night, enjoy breakfast before setting off for one of the world’s most celebrated wine villages.
Through the landscapes of Bordeaux wine country
After Bergerac’s more intimate estates and varied appellations, Saint-Émilion reveals another side of French wine: prestigious properties, vineyard landscapes and centuries of history. The journey is already part of the experience.
Visit to a Grand Cru estate
Your first stop takes you to a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru estate. Discover the diversity of its soils, its principal grape varieties and the methods used to create wines sought after around the world.
Tasting at the estate
Observe the colours, discover the aromas and take time to compare the wines. Your guide accompanies you without complicated vocabulary or rigid rules. What matters most is discovering what you enjoy.
Lunch in the village
At lunchtime, a table will be waiting for you at a carefully selected restaurant in Saint-Émilion. You remain free to choose your meal and pay directly at the restaurant. The reservation and organisation are handled for you, allowing the day to flow effortlessly.
Saint-Émilion: heritage and freedom
Explore the historic streets, monuments and viewpoints of Saint-Émilion. A visit to the monolithic church reveals one of the village’s most remarkable landmarks. You will then have free time to wander along the cobbled streets, visit a wine merchant, enjoy a coffee on a terrace or admire the vineyards from above.
Return to the countryside
In the late afternoon, leave the lively village behind and return to the peace of your hotel.
Your final dinner
For your last evening, return to the estate’s bistro and allow your escape to linger a little longer.
Day 4 — One last morning to slow down
One last breakfast in the château
Enjoy breakfast and the peaceful atmosphere of the estate one last time.
A final moment to linger
Depending on your departure time, take a walk through the grounds, relax on the terrace or simply enjoy a little more time in the comfort of your room.
Departure
Leave with a deeper understanding of the wines of Southwest France, but above all with memories of landscapes, encounters and moments shared.
Or stay a little longer
Your experience can be extended with one or more additional days.
Wine is always better when someone brings the story to life.
Vincent and Susan will accompany you through the vineyards of Bergerac and Saint-Émilion.
English, passionate about Southwest France and its wines, they make each visit relaxed, personal and easy to understand.
They are there to introduce you to the producers, translate when needed, explain what you are tasting and answer your questions — without turning the day into a wine lesson.
No jargon.
Wine explained simply and naturally.
No driving.
Your transport is organised during the guided days.
No rushing.
Time for conversations, questions and discoveries.
A château to come back to every evening.
Throughout your stay, Château des Vigiers becomes your home in the French countryside: a peaceful 16th-century château surrounded by vineyards, woodland and fairways.
Between days of discovery, there is no need to change hotels or keep packing your bags. Come back to your room, enjoy the swimming pool, have a drink on the terrace and settle in for dinner at the bistro.
Two restaurants, two different ways to experience the flavours of Southwest France.
Les Fresques
The Michelin-starred restaurant of Château des Vigiers offers a more refined expression of the region, where local produce, creativity and seasonality come together.
It is not included in the standard French Wine & Golf Escape, but a dinner at Les Fresques can be added to your stay for an even more special evening.
Le Bistrot
A more relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, inspired by the generous flavours and produce of Southwest France.
Your five dinners included in the stay are served here.
Twenty-seven holes, directly outside your hotel.
Château des Vigiers offers three different nine-hole courses, allowing you to create different combinations and discover the estate at your own pace.
Woodland, lakes, natural contours and open countryside create changing atmospheres from one course to another.
Your Wine & Golf Escape includes two days of unlimited golf for two guests. Buggy and equipment hire can be arranged separately.
A place to slow down between two days of discovery.
The wellness facilities offer another way to enjoy the estate, whether you want to recover after golf or simply spend a few quiet hours doing very little.
Spa access, treatments and massages are available as additional experiences and can be organised during your free time.
The luxury here is also the space around you.
Château des Vigiers lies within a 150-hectare country estate in Southwest France, surrounded by woodland, lakes, open landscapes and golf courses.
It is a place where mornings can begin quietly, afternoons can stretch a little longer and returning from a day in the vineyards feels like coming back to a retreat rather than simply returning to a hotel.
Terrace, gardens, pool and countryside all become part of the stay.
